Below is the announcement for an upcoming day of mindfulness in Portland. We hope that you will join us in practice if you are able. Feel free to spread the word; the event is open to our Community of Mindful Living sanghas AND to anyone else who may be interested. If you are planning to come, an RSVP (to Kri) is greatly appreciated.
I know that here in Portland we have traditionally co-created days of mindfulness together, and we have been able to offer them without asking for financial support, largely due to the generosity of the Friends of the Dhamma, who let us use their space on a dana basis. That space was not available to us on the day that Barbara could come north from Ashland, so we will be renting space from the Heart of Wisdom community-- the Portland home of the Zen Community of Oregon, of which Great Vow Monastery is also a part. They have been very generous with us as well; nonetheless, we are making a specific request for dana for this event to cover the expenses of our space rental there, along with gas costs for Barbara's travel. As always, though, we welcome all, regardless of ability to contribute financially.
If you have any questions, or if you would like to help support our day, please let me know. We could use a bell master, a potluck setup master, a potluck cleanup master, a greeter... :) Printable color fliers are available; if you would like one to post or to send around, please ask, and I can send one your way.

Barbara Casey received lamp transmission to teach from Thich Nhat Hanh in January, 2009. She loves exploring the awakening possibilities of the dharma, both alone and in community. A writer and editor, walker and knitter, Barbara makes her home in Ashland, OR with her husband, Robert Sorrell.
Kri Schlafer was ordained into the Order of Interbeing by Thich Nhat Hanh in October, 2005. She has an MA in Embodied Peacemaking, and delights in adventures of experiential dharma—investigating truth brought to life in the body's many ways of knowing. Music, wilderness, aikido, good friends, dark chocolate, playing with children: joy! She lives on a houseboat in Portland, OR.
