Formal Recitation of the Five Mindfulness Trainings
Saturday, April 2 (Arrive: 8:45 a.m.) 9:00-10:00 a.m.
Book Discussion 10:00-11:00 a.m.
At the Braza's (directions below)
Mark your calendar for this opportunity to deepen your practice by formally reciting the Five Mindfulness Trainings together with a continuation of our book discussion. Thay has recommended that all lay friends who have taken the Five Mindfulness Trainings gather at least once a month to formally recite these Trainings. Of course all others are welcome to attend since this is not an exclusive group and basically a chance to practice together and support each other along the way
If you cannot attend on Saturday, please let Larry or Jerry know so that your name can read during the Sanghakarman Procedure (during this part of the ceremony the names are read of those who are unable to attend and have asked to be represented).
The Mindfulness Trainings are the core of the practice for the lay community. The Trainings are our commitment to our teacher and the practice. Without this continuity of practice, we lose our connection with the teacher and the teachings.
Join us on Saturday, April 2, when we will formally recite the Trainings and continue to informally recite the Trainings during our normal Sangha gatherings. Ideally, we will create the opportunity to (formally or informally) recite the Trainings every two weeks.
You are invited to our book discussion which is led by Larry. We have selected Reconciliation: Healing the Inner Child by Thich Nhat Hanh as our current book for study. Jerry and Larry are searching for copies of the book which can be purchased by the Sangha at a discount price. If you have the book, please read the introduction and the first section; if you do not have the book, please come anyway. Our discussion will focus on the following question: How do we cultivate the energy of mindfulness to heal the child within? We will study together with openness, lightness of heart, and sharing of experience with the practice.

"The Sangha is a wonderful home. Every time you go back to the Sangha, you feel that you can breathe more easily, you can walk more mindfully, you can better enjoy the blue sky, the white clouds, and the cypress tree in your yard."
