(If you misplaced the code, no problem; contact tickets@willamettestage.org and we'll send it to you.)
Produced under the guidance of associate artistic director Brian Newberg in wSc's STAGE U Studio for actors, Talking Heads comprises three 40-minute monologues performed – and directed – by a trio of STAGE veterans:
Pat Kight in Miss Fozzard Finds Her Feet, directed by Paul Watts
Paul Watts in Playing Sandwiches, directed by Harriet Nixon
Harriet Nixon in A Bed Among the Lentils, directed by Pat Kight
Originally produced for BBC television, the Talking Heads series has achieved cult status among fans of Bennett, who has been dubbed Britain’s “Curmudgeon Laureate.” The monologues offer finely drawn glimpses into the extraordinary private lives of three “ordinary” people – a saleswoman, a parks maintenance man and a vicar's wife – in language that is precise, vivid and painfully funny.
What the Critics Say
“Bennett’s genius is his ability to satirize humanely. [His] prose is like stained glass: if you stare at it, you see things you missed.” –New York Times
”... the tragic and painful are close bedfellows with the funny and the sexual….We laugh at the situations presented and then feel a twinge of guilt.” –Los Angeles Times
Note: These monologues contain mature themes and language; may not be appropriate for young children; parental discretion advised.
