Mindfulness Toolbox: Sangha Practice, Monday, August 19th, Friends Meeting House 3211 NW Polk

posted Aug 16, 2013, 10:27 AM by Ken Oefelein
Joy, freedom, and happiness, in fact the whole kingdom of god, is available to us right now, in the present moment.  The presence of a sangha (invented by the genius of the buddha) makes it possible for us to overcome anxiety, stress, dukka, and be fully alive, awake to the wonders within us and all around us.  During a recent exchange with a spiritual friend, David Steinberg, he suggested we need a Mindfulness Toolbox.  As a carpenter needs a toolbox to store his essential hammers, saws, etc.
We will co-create one together during dharma discussion, and discover what tools are available to us to enable our mindfulness, concentration, and insight to penetrate with understanding and compassion, turning the suffering in our minds into beautiful flowers of lightness and ease.
Meditations will begin promptly at 5:30, followed by a dharma discussion facilitated by Ken, who will share some of his "Mindfulness Tools".
“The seed of suffering in you may be strong, but don't wait until you have no more suffering before allowing yourself to be happy.”
